Baloch Tribes Rebel Against Pakistani Government
KAHAN, PAKISTAN - JANUARY 31: Marri tribal guerrillas prepare to attack a Pakistani troop outpost January 31, 2006 near Kahan in the Pakistani province of Balochistan. The rebels fired dozens of mortars on Pakistani troops, who returned fire but missed guerrilla positions. The Marri and Bugti tribes have been battling Pakistani forces since December when rebels fired rockets during a visit by President Pervez Musharraf. Rebels say that the Pakistani government takes their region's gas and mineral reserves but gives little in return to Balochistan, the poorest province in Pakistan. Musharraf refers to the guerrillas as "miscreants." (Photo by John Moore/Getty Images)
